What is Wordpress?

The wordpress acts like a frame work on which you can almost build any application. It is versatile and it is free. A large loyal community has turned this software into the easiest form to deploy any kind of website with in minutes. Just know a little bit of php and mysql and there you go.


WordPress is an open source blog publishing application powered by PHP and MySQL which can also be used for basic content management. It has many features including a user-friendly workflow, a rich plugin architecture, and an advanced templating system.

It was first released in May 2003 by Matt Mullenweg as a fork of b2/cafelog. As of September 2009, it is being used by 202 million websites worldwide.

Nothing beats open source. If you want to grow, give it for free and learn the technology from people. If you have noticed all the softwares that are given as open source has a huge community eg: Linux, Google and many more.

Many have explored Wordpress to its extent, but i would say there is more to learn. Because as far as i have used it, it seems endless.
